Pioneers See Personal Best, Strong Field Performances at Chico Invitational

CHICO – Cal State East Bay's women's track and field team saw several athletes compete across multiple events at the Chico Invitational, with strong efforts in both the sprints and throwing events.

Destini Clinton turned in one of the top performances on the track for the Pioneers, placing eighth in the 100 meters with a personal-record time of 12.41 after running 12.33 in the prelims.

Savannah Garcia led East Bay in the field events, placing fifth in the javelin with a throw of 32.47 meters. She also added a seventh-place finish in the shot put at 10.61 meters.

Fellow thrower Jimena Ortiz-Guardado competed in both the discus and hammer, recording marks of 17.94 meters in the discus and 32.87 meters in the hammer.

In the 200 meters, Jada Dorsett paced the Pioneers with a time of 27.79, followed by Catlin Alexis at 28.55 and Tamia Owens at 29.06.

Alexis also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing the prelims in 19.88, and added a mark of 9.57 meters in the shot put.
