The Cal State East Bay women's track and field team showcased its middle-distance depth and strong field event performances over the weekend while competing at both the Golden Gate Track Fest in San Francisco and the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Stanislaus State in Turlock.

East Bay highlighted its middle-distance strength Friday at the Golden Gate Track Fest, placing two runners among the top four in the women's 1500 meters.

Jenna Rodriguez led the Pioneers with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 4:44.25. Close behind was teammate
Angelique Martinez, who placed fourth with a time of 4:44.45, giving East Bay two runners among the event's top finishers.

East Bay added additional depth in the race with several solid performances.
Madison Gomez finished in 4:52.07, while
Nelly Isidro posted a 4:54.49.
Yamilet Deniz also turned in a competitive run, finishing in 4:54.71.

Martinez returned later in the meet to compete in the 800 meters, recording a 2:22.48 performance. Gomez and Deniz also doubled back to run the 800, finishing in 2:23.47 and 2:24.53, respectively.

Additional Pioneer performances in the 1500 meters included
Rachael Simpson (5:07.24),
Genevieve Tamondong (5:12.43),
Gaby Sanchez (5:13.31) and
Miranda Salcedo (5:16.99).
In the 800 meters, East Bay also received contributions from
Grace Veloza, who finished in 2:38.07, and
Natalie Goumashyan, who ran 2:43.88.

The Pioneers also saw success across multiple events at the Kim Duyst Invitational at Warrior Stadium.

In the long jump,
Julia Carmona delivered one of East Bay's top field event performances of the weekend, recording a mark of 5.45 meters (17'10¾") to finish second overall in the competition.

Carmona was also entered in the triple jump, where she owned the top seed mark of 11.85 meters (38'10½") heading into the event.

On the track,
Destini Clinton led East Bay in the 100 meters, finishing 11th overall with a time of 12.58 seconds. Teammate
Jada Dorsett followed with a 13.15 performance, while
Tamia Owens crossed in 13.61.

Clinton and Dorsett were also among East Bay athletes entered in the 200 meters, adding to the team's sprint depth at the meet. In the throwing events, Jimena Ortiz-Guardado represented the Pioneers in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 31.63 meters (103'9").
