The Cal State East Bay men's track and field team turned in several strong individual performances over the weekend, competing at both the Golden Gate Track Fest in San Francisco and the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Stanislaus State in Turlock.
East Bay opened the weekend with a strong showing in the middle-distance and distance events at the Golden Gate Track Fest at San Francisco State, highlighted by top-five finishes in both the 800 meters and 1500 meters.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was
Matthew Morgon, who placed fourth in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 3:56.16, competing in a deep collegiate field and finishing among the event's top runners.

East Bay also had a strong showing in the 800 meters, where
Eion Daley delivered one of the team's top results of the day. Daley finished fourth overall in 1:53.21, narrowly missing the podium in a tightly contested race.

The Pioneers' distance group added another notable performance in the 3000 meters.
Phillip Logan finished fourth with a time of 8:36.20, leading East Bay in the event. Teammate
Dylan Baptista also ran well, placing 15th in 8:58.25, while
Brandon Simpson added depth with a 9:26.89 effort.

John Funderburg competed in both middle-distance events for East Bay, recording a 4:15.33 performance in the 1500 meters before returning in the 800 meters to run 2:03.17.

A group of Pioneers also competed at the Kim Duyst Invitational at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, where East Bay athletes delivered several notable performances across the sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team of
Christian Diaz,
Che Jimenez,
Amier Hollis, and
Mailk Hensley-Prince finished sixth overall with a time of 42.35 seconds.  Freshman
Emmanuel Cortes represented the Pioneers in the 400 meters, finishing 11th overall in a large field with a time of 51.92 seconds.  In the hurdles,
Brevan Rohde placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking 16.20 seconds.

East Bay also saw a strong performance in the field events from
Dapri Smith, who cleared 1.95 meters (6'4¾") in the high jump to finish tied for fourth place, matching the second-best height of the competition.
In the triple jump,
Al'vonn Johnson recorded a mark of 13.34 meters (43'9¼"), finishing 10th overall.
