For Adam Brangefalt, improvement is an ongoing process. As a junior on the Cal State East Bay men's golf team, he approaches each day with a mindset centered on development, consistency, and a commitment to the work required to improve.

"Cal State East Bay had great facilities, coaches, and the location was very appealing," Brangefalt said. "It seemed like a great fit, and I'm very happy to be here."

That decision has allowed him to grow alongside a group of teammates who share a similar mindset. In a sport that demands patience and precision, Brangefalt finds motivation in the daily process rather than just the results.

"I'm driven by a desire to keep getting better day by day," he said. "Golf is a sport where you can always practice, and that continuous grind is something I really enjoy. My teammates also inspire me. We all share a similar mindset, and we take pride in doing the little extra every day."

That approach has become even more important as he works through one of the biggest challenges of his collegiate career. A wrist injury has limited his time on the course and forced him to adjust both physically and mentally.

"I've been dealing with a wrist injury for a while," Brangefalt said. "It's been tough being on the sidelines and not doing what you enjoy the most. But it has made me more aware and appreciative of the time I do get out on the course."

Despite the setback, he remains focused on progress.

"The injury is still an ongoing process, but I'm getting better day by day," he said. "Fingers crossed it stays that way."

His experience has also shaped how he views the importance of mental health in athletics.

"Athletes' mental health is a big issue," Brangefalt said. "There is always work to be done there, and bringing more attention to it is very important."

Support from those around him has played a key role throughout his journey.

"There are a lot of people who have had a big impact on me," he said. "My coaches and teammates have been there since day one, challenging me to grow and supporting me. My girlfriend, Carlota, and my family have always been supportive and are very important to me."

In the classroom, Brangefalt is studying economics, keeping his options open as he looks ahead to life after college.

"In the future, I want to work with something I really enjoy," he said. "I'm passionate about many things, and I enjoy working hard. I'm studying economics and want to do something with that after graduation, even though I'm still figuring out exactly what that looks like."

On the course, his goals remain both personal and team-oriented.

"As a team, we want to compete at a national level," he said. "We have a strong group and believe we can make a run. Personally, I want to stay process-oriented, focus on getting back to 100 percent health, and enjoy every moment."

Away from golf, Brangefalt has another outlet that reflects his attention to detail.

"I love cooking and like to think of myself as a decent cook," he said with a smile.

As his season continues, Brangefalt remains focused on steady progress. Whether working back from injury or refining his game, his mindset stays the same, putting in the work each day and trusting where it will take him.
