BERKELEY, Calif. — Cal State East Bay turned in an impressive showing on Saturday at the Cal All Comers, highlighted by event victories and multiple top-three finishes at Edwards Stadium.
The Pioneers were led by
Savannah Garcia, who claimed the event title in the javelin throw with a mark of 35.72 meters (117'2"), continuing her strong season in the field.
Garcia also added a third-place finish in the long jump (4.90m) while
Angelique Martinez paced a dominant effort in the 3000 meters, winning the race in 10:24.44. Teammate
Madison Gomez made it a one-two finish for East Bay, crossing the line in 10:28.22. The Pioneers placed five runners in the top 11 of the event, including
Yamilet Deniz (7th),
Natalie Goumashyan (10th), and
Grace Veloza (11th).
In the jumps,
Julia Carmona delivered a pair of runner-up finishes, placing second in both the long jump (5.06m) and triple jump (11.09m) to lead East Bay's efforts.
In the throws, Jimena Ortiz-Guardado recorded three top-five finishes, taking third in the hammer throw (30.96m), fourth in the discus (14.40m), and fifth in the shot put (6.29m).
On the track,
Jenna Rodriguez posted a strong fourth-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:42.56), while
Destini Clinton led the sprint group with a sixth-place showing in the 60 meters (8.01).
