East Bay Closes Strong, Takes Seventh at Fujikura Invitational

VISTA, Calif. — Cal State East Bay concluded play at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational with a seventh-place finish at Shadowridge Country Club, posting a three-round team total of 65-over-par.

The Pioneers showed steady improvement throughout the tournament, opening with a 23-over 311, trimming that to 22-over 310 in round two, and closing with their best score of the event — a 20-over 308 — in the final round.

Bowman Leads East Bay

Torrie Bowman paced the Pioneers with a tie for 13th overall at 11-over-par. She recorded consecutive rounds of 74 (+2) before finishing with a 79 (+7).

Carlota Eroles finished 26th at 15-over-par, carding rounds of 74 (+2), 79 (+7) and 78 (+6).

Chantel Tsai placed in a tie for 38th at 19-over-par. After an 82 in the opening round, Tsai responded with improved scores of 77 and 76 over the final two rounds.

Sakshi Mehta tied for 52nd at 29-over-par (81-80-84), while Kathy Leeper rounded out the lineup in 56th at 30-over-par. Leeper delivered East Bay's lowest individual round of the final day with a 75 (+3).

The Pioneers' progression over the final 36 holes capped a competitive showing against a strong field in Southern California.
