Pioneers Finish 12th at DBU Classic

DALLAS – The Cal State East Bay women's golf team wrapped up the DBU Classic on Tuesday, finishing 12th in the 14-team field following three rounds of competition at Dallas Athletic Club.

The Pioneers completed the tournament at 93-over-par. East Bay opened with a 24-over first round before posting a 32-over second round later Monday. The Pioneers closed the tournament with a 37-over final round on Tuesday.

Torrie Bowman led East Bay on the individual leaderboard, finishing tied for 39th at 20-over-par. Bowman turned in a consistent three rounds, opening with a 79 (+7), following with a 78 (+6) and closing with another 79 (+7) for a 236 total.

Colette Trotter finished tied for 50th at 24-over with a three-round total of 240. Trotter provided East Bay's lowest individual round of the tournament with a two-over-par 74 in the opening round before adding a 78 (+6) in the second and an 88 (+16) in the final round.

Sakshi Mehta finished 56th at 26-over, posting rounds of 80, 81 and 81 for a total of 242. Mehta provided consistency throughout the tournament, with just one stroke separating each of her three rounds.

Kathy Leeper finished tied for 62nd at 30-over following rounds of 79, 84 and 83 for a 246 total.

Chantel Tsai rounded out the Pioneer lineup and finished tied for 67th at 34-over. Tsai improved her score in each round of the tournament, opening with an 85 before lowering that to an 83 in the second round and closing with an 82 in Tuesday's final round.

East Bay's best team round came in the opening 18 holes at 24-over, highlighted by Trotter's 74 along with 79s from Bowman and Leeper and an 80 from Mehta.

The Pioneers completed the 54-hole tournament in 12th place at 93-over, wrapping up two days of competition at Dallas Athletic Club.
