LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After a 5-0 week during the Stan State Invitational, Cal State East Bay softball climbed two spots in the NFCA/GoRout DII Coaches Poll to No. 3.
East Bay went 5-0 last week, improving to 14-1 overall, outscoring the competition, 25-10. The greatest challenge was on Friday morning with a 6-5 win in eight innings over Central Washington.
The outstanding play by the Pioneers included a second consecutive week in which
Marissa Quintero was named FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week. Quintero was also named to the Stan State Invitational All-Tournament Team along with Pioneer infielder
Jeslyn Cuellar.
The No. 3 Pioneers are scheduled to host their first home doubleheader of the season this coming Thursday against Simon Fraserwith a site to be determined.
