Awards Pile Up for Quintero With Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A trifecta of weekly softball awards this week have been garnered by Cal State East Bay junior pitcher Marissa Quintero. The third, as announced Tuesday, was at the national level as she was named Wilson/NFCA DII Pitcher of the Week. 

As Cal State East Bay softball swept five games during the 2026 D2 West Coast Challenge this past weekend to earn the crown as Tournament Champions, Quintero went 3-0 during the D2 West Coast Challenge with 17.0 innings pitched not allowing an earned run and struck out 19 batters she faced. On Friday to open the tournament, she tossed a no-hitter in a 17-1 run-rule rout of No. 3 Western Washington. The following day, she shutout Biola was East Bay won 6-0 and the Pioneers repeated the same score on Sunday with Quintero in the circle for 5.0 innings against Colorado Mesa. 

Through six appearances, Quintero is 6-0 this season with a 0.22 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched. She has only allowed one earned run and currently is on a streak of 28.0 innings without an earned run allowed. Defensively on eight chances, she has no errors. 

Quintero's two other weekly awards since Sunday include the D2 West Coast Challenge's Most Outstanding Pitcher and FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week for February 2-8. 

On Thursday, the now No. 5 Pioneers will look to build off their 9-1 start with a non-conference matchup against Dominican (Calif.) in the first day of the 2026 Stan State Invitational. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. from Warrior Softball Field in Turlock.
