TURLOCK, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball split a CCAA doubleheader with Stanislaus State at Warrior Baseball Field. The Pioneers won game one 5-2, ending a five-game losing streak. In game two, the Pioneers lost 3-1 in seven innings.
Game One – Cal State East Bay 5, Stanislaus State 2
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Luke Novitske hit a solo home run to left field and
Matthew O'Mahony hit an RBI double to left center field that drove in
Luke Brown.
In the top of the second, Novitske hit an RBI single to right field for a 3-0 lead. Two more runs were added to the Pioneers' total, as Novitske and
Brenden Bell scored as a result of an error for a 5-0 lead.
Stanislaus State scored a run in the bottom of the second, and came within three in the bottom of the eighth, but
Drake Richardson closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth, as the Pioneers won 5-2.
- In relief with 6.0 innings on the mound, Jackson Ellis picked up the win, improving to 4-1 on the season.
- Drake Richardson got his fourth save of the season.
- Novitske led the Pioneers' offense going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. His home run was his fourth of the season.
Game Two - Stanislaus State 3, Cal State East Bay 1 (7 innings)
The Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the third and added their third run of the game in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth, O'Mahony hit a sacrifice fly RBI, as Bell scored CSUEB's only run of the game.
