HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball played a doubleheader against San Francisco State on Saturday, losing game one 22-6 and game two 10-1.
Game One – SF State 22, CSU East Bay 6
The Gators' offense exploded for six runs in the top of the second inning and would add two more runs in the top of the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead.
The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning with two runs coming on an
Alonzo Guijarro two-run home run.
The Gators got two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, but in the bottom of the inning,
Luke Novitske launched three-run home run to left field. SF State led 10-5 after Novitske's third home run of the season.
SF State continued its offensive output, with four runs in the top of the sixth and six more in the top of the seventh, to lead 20-5.
Aidan Morton hit an RBI double to left center that drove in
Robert Ellwanger for CSUEB's final run of the game. The Gators added two more runs en route to a 22-6 win over Cal State East Bay.
- Morton led the Pioneers' offense going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
- In 3.2 innings of relief pitching, Ryan Juric had four strikeouts.
- For Guijarro, his home run was his second of the season.
Game Two - SF State 10, Cal State East Bay 1(7 innings)
Over a stretch of the first four innings, SF State scored eight runs.
Luke Brown led off the bottom of the sixth with a hit-by-pitch, and would later in the inning, reach third base on a double by Novitske. Then,
Danelle Daniels grounded out to third base but got an RBI as Brown scored CSUEB's only run of the game.
SF State added a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, and finished the doubleheader sweep with a 10-1 win.
- Novitske led the Pioneers' offense going 2-for-3 in game two.
