HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball opened a four-game CCAA series against San Francisco State at Pioneer Baseball Field on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers fell to the Gators, 11-4.
The Gators took a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Pioneers got one run back in the bottom of the first inning on a
Danelle Daniels RBI single to left center that drove in
Luke Brown.
SF State added two runs in the top of the second inning for a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning,
Brenden Bell hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored
Matthew O'Mahony, and
Sam Gilliam scored on an error, as the SF State lead was cut to 6-3.
SF State added five more runs throughout the game's duration and took an 11-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning.
Daniels hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, allowing
Alonzo Guijarro to score CSUEB's fourth run, but the Gators finished the game with an 11-4 win.
