HAYWARD, Calif. - Saturday's series finale between Cal State East Bay baseball and Simpson (Calif.) did not go in favor of the Pioneers, who lost 10-7 at Chabot College Baseball Field.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning, and added another run in the top of the third.

In the bottom of the third,
Brenden Bell hit an RBI single to drive in
Robert Ellwanger putting the Pioneers on the scoreboard. Later in the inning,
Matthew O'Mahony hit a two-run single and
Luke Brown hit an RBI single on the following at-bat, as the Pioneers trailed 6-4 after three innings.

Matthew Olivares and
Luke Novitske drew back-to-back walks to start the bottom of the fifth, and advanced on a wild pitch, O'Mahony and Brown hit back-to-back sacrifice flies with an RBI each to tie the game at 6-6.

The tie was broken in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run hit by Brady Meeds to give Simpson an 8-6 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Bell hit an RBI double to drive in Ellwanger. The Red Hawks led 8-7.

Simpson added two runs in the top of the eighth inning for a 10-7 lead.

In the final two innings, the Pioneers only had two base runners with all other batters retired, as the Red Hawks took the series finale, 10-7, taking two of three games in the series.

- O'Mahony has a hit in every game this season, and has a .522 batting average through 12 games. He had three RBIs on Saturday.
- In 4.0 innings of relief pitching, Nate Nordell had five strikeouts.
- Bell went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
