HAYWARD, Calif. - Cal State East Bay finished its three game series against Menlo College at Pioneer Baseball Field. The Pioneers won 5-1 over the visiting Oaks, completing a three-game sweep.
After 3 1/2 scoreless innings, the Pioneers would get on the scoreboard with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Luke Brown led off the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff single then singles by
Matthew O'Mahony and
Danelle Daniels loaded the bases. A bases loaded wild pitch allowed Brown to score the first run of the game, Then,
Quinn Ayres drew a walk to load the bases again, and
Brenden Bell delivered a bases clearing triple to right center, giving the Pioneers a 4-0 lead.
The Oaks would get a run back in the top of the sixth inning to trim the Pioneers' lead to 4-1.
The Pioneers would add their final run of the series in the bottom of the eighth on a
Matthew O'Mahony solo home run to left field, which was his fifth of the season and second in as many days, extending the lead to 5-1.
- Dwyer Lewis received the win, improving to 2-0 with 6.0 innings of work, allowing no earned runs with three strikeouts.
- Derek Murphy picked up the save, his first of the season in 3.0 innings on the mound.
- O'Mahony led the Pioneers' offense going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. His five home runs is a CCAA-best through Sunday.
- Daniels and Bell also had two hits each.
