FRIDAY RECAP: Women’s Track & Field at CCAA Championships

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The first day of competition for the Cal State East Bay women's track team at the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships took place at Mangrum Track & Field on the Cal State San Marcos campus. Multiple Pioneers qualified for Saturday's finals after Friday's qualifying heats.
 
Below are highlights for Cal State East Bay from Friday's action.
  • Jenna Rodriguez ran the fastest time of all runners in the qualifying heats of the 800 meters in two minutes, 14.92 seconds which was a personal best. She qualified for Saturday's final.
  • Qualifying for Saturday's final in the 1,500 meters was Melissa Sosa, with a finish of 4:50.95.
  • Finishing seventh in the final of the 10,000 meters was Kimberly Lima with a time of 37:36.05.
  • One personal record for the Pioneers was achieved on Friday. By 0.13 seconds for a personal best, Ashley Trout finished the 400 meters in 1:00.38.
 
In addition to the final events in which Rodriguez and Sosa qualified for, CSUEB will also compete Saturday in the shot put, 5,000 meter final and the 4x400 meter relay on the final day of the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships.
 
Saturday's action from Mangrum Track & Field begins at noon, but the first event with an entry from CSUEB women's track is at 2:05 p.m.
