SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The first day of competition for the Cal State East Bay men's track team at the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships took place at Mangrum Track & Field on the Cal State San Marcos campus. Multiple Pioneers qualified for Saturday's finals after Friday's qualifying heats.
 
Below are highlights for Cal State East Bay from Friday's action.

• Chas O'Bear qualified for Saturday's final in the 1,500 meters with a time of three minutes, 54.83 seconds.
• In the 800 meters, Dylan Gong finished in 1:55.51, which earned him a spot in Saturday's final.

 
Personal records for the Pioneers were also met. Below are some personal records from Friday.

• In the 1,500 meters, Matthew Morgon (3:58.88) and Guillermo Lopez (4:01.56) each met personal bests.
• In sprints, Jared Giles met his lowest time of 11.01 seconds in the 100 meters and Mateo DiDomenico finished the 200 meters in 22.68 seconds.
• Sebastian Garcia ran a personal best 33:48.24 in the 10,000 meters.

 
In addition to the events in which Gong and O'Bear qualified for on Saturday, the Pioneers will compete in the 5,000 meter final, 4x400 meter relay and 4x100 meter relay on the final day of the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships.
 
Saturday's action from Mangrum Track & Field begins at noon, but the first event with an entry from CSUEB men's track is at 2:15 p.m.
