SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The final day of the 2023 CCAA Championships took place Saturday at Mangrum Track & Field. As the Cal State East Bay women's track & field team finished in a ninth place tie for team scoring, several achievements were reached individually, most notably a second place medal for in the 800 meters.
After an impressive qualifying heat, Rodriguez competed in the 800 meter final on Saturday and placed second, with a time of two minutes, 15.27 seconds. She received a second place medal from the conference for her finish.
There were additional highlights for the Pioneers on throughout the meet.
- In 4:49.59, Melissa Sosa placed eighth in the finals of the 1,500 meters.
- Kimberly Lima finished the 5,000 meters in 12th place.
- With a fourth place finish in the shot put was Taylor Linzie, who made a personal best mark of 11.86 meters.
The 2023 season was the first complete season for the Pioneers under the direction of Pioneers Hall of Famer
