HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball played the first game of their final regular season CCAA series as they took on Stanislaus State at Pioneer Baseball Field. The Pioneers won their third consecutive game, shutting out the Warriors, 5-0.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a
Manny Garcia RBI ground out to second base, driving in
Luke Brown.
Cal State East Bay went up 2-0 in the top of the third when
Luke Brown scored on a throwing error.
In the bottom of the seventh inning,
Samuel Esparza doubled to left field to drive in
Cole Anderson as the lead increased to 3-0.
Matthew O'Mahony launched a two-run home run down the left field line, which was his second home run of the season giving the Pioneers a 5-0 lead.
Gabe Tanner picked up his fourth win of the season with seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
- Tanner's eight strikeouts puts him second in the CCAA for strikeouts with 77 on the season.
- Luke Novitske went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.
Cal State East Bay: 26-21, 20-17 CCAA
Stanislaus State: 24-22, 17-19 CCAA
