SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State East Bay Baseball played its second day of a CCAA series at Cal State San Marcos on Saturday at CSUSM Baseball Field The Cougars won game one 9-2 and the Pioneers won game two 6-3 in seven innings.
Game #1 – Cal State San Marcos 9, Cal State East Bay 2
The Cougars had a 7-0 lead through four innings.
The Pioneers would score their first run of the game in the top of the seventh inning on a
Niko Mollat RBI single to right field that drove in
Matthew Mandeville.
While the Cougars would score their final two runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, CSUEB scored one run in the top of the eighth on a
Cole Anderson RBI single to drive in
Luke Novitske. CSUSM finished with a 9-2 win in game one of the doubleheader.
Game #2 – Cal State East Bay 6, CSU San Marcos 3
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the thirs inning.
In the top of the fifth, Cal State East Bay scored four runs –
Samuel Esparza scored on a throwing error,
Matthew O'Mahony singled through the left side to drive in
Essex Brown Jr.,
Manny Garcia hit an RBI single to drive in Novitske and and O'Mahony scored on a wild pitch.
The Cougars would score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to come within a run, trailing 4-3.
In the top of the sixth inning,
Jacob Klinovsky and Esparza each hit a home run as the Pioneers led 6-3.
Ethan Brodsky picked up his seventh win of the season for a complete seven-inning game on Saturday.
- Esparza went 3-for-3 in game two and his home run was his first as a Pioneer.
- Klinovsky's home run was his second of the season.

Cal State San Marcos: 18-22, 12-18 CCAA
