HAYWARD, Calif. – On Friday afternoon, Cal State East Bay baseball lost a CCAA game to Cal State Los Angeles, 4-1 to open a four-game series at Pioneer Baseball Field.
After three scoreless innings, an RBI double by Michael Rosales put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
Manny Garcia reached base on a fielding error, then advanced to second after a single by
Cole Anderson. After
Jacob Froess hit into a fielder's choice, Garcia got to third base and scored on an error to tie the game at 1-1.
CSULA had two runners on base to open the top of the sixth inning. The tie was broken on a three-run home run by Matthew Piotrowski for a 4-1 lead.
The Pioneers were held scoreless for the remainder of the game as the Golden Eagles finished with a 4-1 win on Friday.
- Luke Novitske went 2-for-4 on Friday and has a .313 batting average on the season. His hitting streak is extended to seven straight games.
- In six innings pitched, Gabe Tanner had seven strikeouts. With his seven strikeouts, he leads the conference in the category through Friday with 67.
