SAN FRANCISCO/AZUSA, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's track team competed in two separate meets over this past Friday and Saturday. Select athletes competed in the Bryan Clay Invitational, which took place at Azusa Pacific University, while other student-athletes participated in the Johnny Mathis Invitational on the campus of San Francisco State University.
Below are highlights from the Bryan Clay Invitational for the Pioneers.
- Jenna Rodriguez ran her personal fastest time in the 800 meters of two minutes, 18.55 seconds.
- Melissa Sosa ran her career-best time of 4:44.67 in the 1,500 meters.
- The finishing time kept improving in the 5,000 meters for Alyssa Escay, who completed the run in 18:02.88.
- Running in the 10,000 meters was Kimberly Lima Pardina, who had a personal best time of 37:02.99.
Personal bests were also achieved at the Johnny Mathis Invitational for Cal State East Bay runners.
- In the 400 meters, Simryn Parikh and Ashley Trout had personal best times in the 400 meters of 1:00.58 and 1:01.48 respectively.
- Ariel Van Riper placed ninth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, achieving a personal best time in the event of 12:16.30.
The Pioneers have one remaining regular season meet scheduled which is the Chico State Invitational on April 21-22. Although the meet takes place over the two days, Cal State East Bay is expected to primarily participate in events on Saturday, April 22.
