HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball opened a CCAA series against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday at Pioneer Field. The Otters topped the Pioneers 8-3.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as
Essex Brown Jr. hit a leadoff solo home run.
The Otters answered with two runs in the top of the third.
CSUEB tied the game in the bottom of the third on a
Luke Brown RBI double to left field that scored Brown Jr.
The Otters scored a run in the top of the fourth and in the top of the sixth inning to lead 4-2.
Jacob Froess singled to right field for an RBI that scored
Cole Anderson in the bottom of the sixth.
Leading by a run in the top of the ninth, CSUMB added four runs to pull away and finish with an 8-3 victory.
- Luke Brown went 2-for-4 in the game with one RBI. He is batting .348 on the season.
- In 7.0 innings on the mound, Ethan Brodsky had seven strikeouts.
- Brown Jr.'s home run was his first of the season and third of his CSUEB career.
- Brown Jr. had one stolen base, as he leads the CCAA with 12 on the season.
