GAME SUMMARY

To start the bottom of the first inning, Essex Brown Jr. led off by reaching base on a hit-by-pitch. He then stole second base to reach scoring position. After advancing to third base on a productive groundout, Brown Jr. scored the first run of the season on a wild pitch.

Pitching for the Pioneers was outstanding, limiting the Oaks to only two hits. Only four times did a Menlo runner reach scoring position in the game. The success on the mound led to a 1-0 shutout for Cal State East Bay to open the season.
