HAYWARD, Calif. – At Pioneer Baseball Field on Friday afternoon, the Cal State East Bay baseball team began its 2023 campaign in victorious fashion with a 1-0 shutout against Menlo College.
To start the bottom of the first inning,
Essex Brown Jr. led off by reaching base on a hit-by-pitch. He then stole second base to reach scoring position. After advancing to third base on a productive groundout, Brown Jr. scored the first run of the season on a wild pitch.
