SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State East Bay baseball team split a doubleheader with San Francisco State on Saturday at Maloney Field. The Pioneers lost game one 8-3, but bounced back in game two 14-2 in seven innings.

The Pioneers opened the scoring in the top of the second inning with one run coming on a
Jacob Froess RBI single to right field that scored
Matthew O'Mahony.
Jacob Klinovsky stole home for the Pioneers' second run of the game.
The Gators would score three in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead and added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-2 lead.
Cal State East Bay scored a run in the top of the sixth when O'Mahony grounded out to second base to drive in
Luke Brown.
SF State scored one more run when AJ Shrader hit a solo home run. The Gators won 8-3.

The Pioneers struck first in the top of the fourth inning with four runs.
Luke Novitske doubled to center field driving in
Samuel Esparza,
Luke Brown singled to right field driving in
Manny Garcia and two runs were scored on an O'Mahony triple to center field bringing in Brown and Novitske.
Cal State East Bay doubled its lead to 8-0 in the top of the fourth. Doubles from Garcia and
Luke Brown drove in two runs each.
Although the Gators scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, the Pioneers added two runs in the top of the fifth including a sacrifice bunt from Esparza that scored
Cole Anderson and an RBI single from Garcia to drive in
Quinn Ayres
In the top of the sixth, Esparza hit a sacrifice fly to drive in O'Mahony,
Donovan Bailey scored as a result of an error, Garcia singled to center field to drive in
Matthew Mandeville and
Luke Brown hit an RBI single.
The win went to
Gabe Tanner, who pitched a complete game two-hitter, with eight strikeouts for the Pioneers to improve to 3-1.
- Tanner's win was hit second complete game of the season.
- Luke Brown and Garcia each went had three hits each in game two with four RBIs each.
- Brown has a team-high 13 RBIs.
- In six innings of relief pitching in game one, Tristin Tatum had three strikeouts.
