HAYWARD, Calif. - Cal State East Bay women's track opened its 2023 season on Saturday in the Chabot Opener, which was also the first meet for the program under the direction of head coach and Pioneers Hall of Famer
Norm Alston. There was one individual first place finish and one relay team placed first.
Below are Saturday's highlights for the Pioneers.
- Claire Fisher placed first in the 1,500 meters with a time of four minutes, 54.16 seconds.
- Also in the top-5 in the 1,500 meters were Kimberly Lima Pardina (Third Place - 4:59.04) and Ariel Van Riper (Fifth Place - 5:06.29).
- In the 800 meter run, Jenna Rodriguez placed fourth in 2:25.98 which was also her first individual event with Cal State East Bay.
- Simryn Parikh finished fifth in the 400 meters in 1:02.43.
- In the 4x400 relay, the Pioneers placed first with the tam of Parikh, Ashley Trout, Rodriguez and Veronica Valenton with a time of 4:12.23.
On Friday, March 3, the Pioneers return to Chabot College Track for the West Coast Twilight.
