SAN FRANCISCO – Cal State East Bay baseball dropped its CCAA opener to San Francisco State 11-2 at Maloney Field on Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a
Luke Brown groundout to second that scored
Essex Brown Jr. The Gators would score two runs in the bottom of the first on a Gavin Haimovitz single to left center that scored Justin Clark and Nick Upstill.
The Pioneers tied the game in the top of the second inning on a
Samuel Esparza groundout to pitcher that drove in
Cole Anderson. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, that run would be their final of the game as the Gators would tack on four runs in the second, one in the fourth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth for the 11-2 victory.
Cal State East Bay: 6-5, 0-1 CCAA
SF State: 8-1, 1-0 CCAA
