WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – The final round of the 2023 HPU Sharks Shootout took place Tuesday at Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf. Cal State East Bay women's golf finished in a three way tie for team scoring among a field of 18 teams.
Jasmin Krishna finished with the lowest score among the Pioneers at 7-over-par 147 (72-75) with three total birdies in 36 holes played. She was tied for 11
th on the leaderboard.
The lowest second round score for CSUEB was from
Alma Garcia, who shot 2-over-par 72 on Tuesday.
Krishna, Garcia, along with
Carlota Eroles and
Mandi Granato had three birdies each in the tournament.
"Good tournament for our women at Waikoloa Resort," said Cal State East Bay men's and women's head golf coach
Alan Sue. "We fought some commitment issues on this challenging layout. Our strength in this even was our emotional control which allowed us to climb the leaderboard to a [second place tied finish]. The group had a great energy and with a couple of small adjustments, will be ready for the [Dennis Rose Intercollegiate] at The Village Course at Waikoloa in a few days."
The Pioneers were in a three-way tie for second place with Cal State LA and Cal State Monterey Bay. Cal State San Marcos won the team competition.
Madison Murr finished atop the leaderboard as the individual medalist with a final score of 3-under-par 137 (68-69).
The Pioneers do not have to go very far for their next tournament. They will compete in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate this coming Friday and Saturday at The Village Course at Waikoloa. Tee time is set for 8 a.m. HST (11 a.m. Pacific) for a shotgun start.
