Green Reaches Double-Double in Second Straight Match

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team had a quick turnaround for a CCAA match on Saturday evening. The Pioneers dropped the opening set in extra points to Stanislaus State, but took the next three sets to win their second consecutive match, 3-1 (26-28, 25-23, 25-21, 25-16). With 11 kills and 14 digs, reaching a double-double for the second straight evening was Kara Green.

SET SUMMARY
 
The opening set needed extra points to determine a winner. While the Pioneers were in position to win the set, ahead 24-23, Stanislaus State tied the set. After trading points to reach 26-26, the Warriors won the next two points for an opening set win of 28-26. Taumafa Tuinauvai had four kills in set one.
 
Another close battle took place in the second set. With the Pioneers up 24-23 in set two, at set point, Lexi Pagani delivered a kill to close out the set at 25-23 as the match was even at 1-1. Alexandria Gloria had four kills in set two.
 
Although the Pioneers trailed in the second set by as much as three points, they came back to regain control in set two, and ahead 24-21, Gloria had a kill to give CSUEB a 25-21 set two win to put the Pioneers ahead 2-1 in sets. Five of Green's 11 kills were in set three.
 
The Pioneers never trailed in the fourth set, and finished with the largest point differential at the end of a set during the match to win 25-16, as Green had the kill at match point to secure the victory for Cal State East Bay.

  • Green reached a double-double for the fourth time this season on Saturday. She had 11 kills and 14 assists.
