POMONA, Calif. – At Kellogg Gym on Friday evening, the Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team lost in three sets to No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona, 25-15, 25-18, 25-23.
Lexi Pagani had a team high 11 kills in the match.
The opening set was defined much by multiple runs of greater than five points for the Broncos. Despite an early lead of as much as 8-3 for the Pioneers, Cal Poly Pomona was able to finish the opening set, 25-15. Pagani had four kills in set one.
The Broncos took an early lead in set two, and didn't look back, as they took a 2-0 set lead by winning the second set, 25-18.
Taumafa Tuinauvai had three kills in set two for CSUEB.
It seemed early in set three that the Pioneers had control. However, multiple runs by Cal Poly Pomona allowed the lead to slip away for CSUEB. Cal Poly Pomona ultimately finished a 3-0 sweep with a third set victory of 25-23.
