SAN FRANCISCO - Over a span of three days, the Cal State East Bay men's track team competed in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, which took place on the campus of San Francisco State University. Below are some highlights and accomplishments by the Pioneers during the meet.
  • Cole McKain finished the men's 10,000 meters in 32 minutes, 7.94 seconds, which is a top-10 time in Pioneers history.
  • Finishing with personal bests (min. 2 career events of distance) in the men's 5,000 meters were Luke Calubayan (15:35.63) and Sebastian Garcia (15:53.33).
  • John Robert Bradshaw was CSUEB's top finisher in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:32.48.
  • Julian Johnson ran his fastest 1,500 meter time of 4:00.51.
"The men made some great strides this weekend," said CSU East Bay head coach Tony Nicolosi. "We've been dealing with a lot of large and small setbacks recently, but the guys stepped up and pushed through. Justin Matties ran his first race since November, and looked really strong. Dylan Shubert and Sebastian Garcia had very solid personal bests in the mile and 5k. Our young team gained valuable experience this weekend."

The Pioneers host their next meet, which takes place on April 8-9, the East Bay Invite, at Chabot College.
