SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay baseball team fell short in this weekend's conference opening series finale on Sunday afternoon against Cal State Monterey Bay, 10-2.
Manny Garcia went 3-for-3 with a run scored, while
Matthew O'Mahony had an RBI single in the sixth and
Tommy Scavone had one hit and an RBI.
Starting pitcher
Ethan Brodsky (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season on the mound, allowing three earned runs on eight hits and striking out two in six innings pitched.
East Bay trailed 2-0 in the first and fell behind by four in the fourth, but Scavone's sacrifice fly in the sixth scored
Luke Novitske and cut the Pioneers' deficit to 4-2.
CSUEB (8-6, 1-3 CCAA) takes next weekend off before resuming conference play at home against Sonoma State on Friday, March 11, beginning at 2 p.m.
