FINAL RESULTS
HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's and women's track and field teams began its season by hosting Sonoma State and Dominican in a tri-meet on Saturday at Chabot College.
The Pioneers had good opening performances in distance events, as
Richard Mckain took first by a wide margin in the men's 3000 meter behind a time of 8-minutes, 38.87-seconds.
Miles Worthen placed third in the event at 8:55.45.
Aidan Singh won the 1500 with a time of 4:04.14, out-pacing teammates
Luke Calubayan (4:06.05) and
Julian Johnson (4:07.31). Singh, Mckain, Worthen and Johnson also teammed up for the top finish in the 4x400 relay after finishing in 3:57.05.
In addition, Mateo Didomenico had success in his track and field debut, winning the 100 in 11.90 and placing second in the 200 (23.87).
On the women's side,
Chase Worthen took first in the 1500 after crossing the finish line in 4:47.43, while
Amanda Navarro was third in 4:56.29.
Madeline Acosta placed third in the 5000 with a time of 21:38.52.
East Bay resumes action March 5, as the Pioneers take on Saint Mary's in a dual at Chabot College.
