Four Pioneers Garner All-CCAA Honors

CHICO, Calif. – The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced its postseason honors for volleyball on Wednesday evening for 2022. Four from Cal State East Bay were recognized, including Lexi Pagani, Kara Green, Mia Jordan and Karis Carter.
 
Pagani was named All-CCAA First Team, Green and Jordan were named to the Second Team and Carter received Honorable Mention recognition.
 
In her first year with the Pioneers, Pagani led the team in kills during the regular season with 285, averaging 3.00 per set (eighth in the CCAA) with a .212 attack percentage. Her 340 points was a team-high. Defensively, Pagani had 228 digs, with a season high of 17 last Saturday in the regular season finale. Pagani finished with six double-doubles in 2022.
 
Green contributed offensively and defensively as well, as she received CCAA postseason honors for the third time in as many seasons played with the Pioneers. She finished the regular season with 232 kills, with a .269 attack percentage. She also had a team-high 300 digs. Of the 26 matches played, Green had nine double-doubles. Green also led the Pioneers in service aces with 33. To close out the regular season in a 3-2 win against Cal Poly Humboldt, she had a season-high 19 kills and matched a season-high in digs with 18.
 
Following the 2019 and 2021 seasons, Green was named All-CCAA Honorable Mention.
 
Jordan provided an outstanding presence with her play at the net in 2022. She compiled 71.0 total blocks and 230 kills. On October 29, in a 3-1 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills, her seven total blocks was a career high for a single match. Jordan started every match for the Pioneers during the regular season.
 
Matching a season-high 10 blocks last Saturday in the regular season finale, Carter finished the season with 140 kills and a .331 attack percentage (seventh in the CCAA). At the net, Carter led the Pioneers in total blocks with 82.0, with 20 being solo blocks.
 
With the 2022 regular season in the books for the Pioneers, the CCAA Tournament is on the horizon. Cal State East Bay takes on Sonoma State on Thursday in a quarterfinal matchup with an opening serve set for 5:30 p.m. from The Sports Center on the campus of Cal State San Marcos.
