CARMEL, Calif. – The 2022 CCAA Cross Country Championships took place Saturday morning at Palo Corona Cross Country Course. The No. 29 Cal State East Bay women's cross country team placed third among 11 teams. With finishes in the top 15,
Chase Worthen,
Leza Cassidy and
Claire Fisher earned All-CCAA recognition.
Placing 6
th overall in the women's 6k was Worthen, with a finish of 21:48.1. For Worthen, Saturday's All-CCAA recognition was earned for the second year in a row at the CCAA Championship.
Just two places behind Worthen was Cassidy, who completed the 6k in 22:00.6.
Fisher placed 13
th with a time of 22:24.1.
Rounding out the top five finishers for the Pioneers were
Kimberly Lima Pardina (29
th place – 23:14.2) and
Melissa Jovanna Sosa (31st - 23:21.0).
Stanislaus State won the team competition for a second consecutive CCAA Women's Cross Country Championship. Not only did Stanislaus State repeat as team champions, Kaela Dishion was the top finisher in the CCAA Championships for a second straight year.
It is anticipated that the Pioneers will compete in the 2022 NCAA Division II West Regional. The postseason event takes place on Saturday, November 19 in Billings, Montana at Amend Park.
