LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's cross country team turned in a strong showing in the 3K at the Chabot Twilight, highlighted by six consecutive Pioneer finishers from second through seventh place.
Natalie Goumashyan led the way for East Bay, crossing the finish line in second place with a time of 10:52.38. Grace Veloza followed closely behind in third at 10:55.72, while Lowyn Pereyda was just five-hundredths of a second behind, taking fourth in 10:55.77.
The Pioneers continued to fill the top of the results, with Jocelyn Uraje-Galindo placing fifth in 11:03.02 and Genevieve Tamondong following in sixth at 11:06.06. Hope Brookins completed East Bay's run of six consecutive finishers, taking seventh with a time of 11:14.10.
Just 21.72 seconds separated Goumashyan in second from Brookins in seventh, giving East Bay a tightly packed group at the front of the race.
East Bay's depth continued throughout the field. Paulina Arias crossed in 11:20.52, followed by Mikayla Bueno in 11:22.09, Jennifer Johnson in 11:23.77 and Gaby Sanchez in 11:29.72.
The Pioneers placed six consecutive runners from second through seventh and had 10 runners shown in the results cross the finish line in under 11:30.
