BILLINGS, Mont. – The Cal State East Bay women's cross country team ran a 6k in very cold temperatures on Saturday during the NCAA Division II Cross Country West Regionals. At Amend Park, the Pioneers placed eighth among 26 participating teams.
Claire Fisher ran the 6k in 21 minutes, 58.4 seconds as the fastest runner among all Pioneers.
The next fastest runner for the Pioneers was
Chase Worthen, who's 36
th place finish was completed in 22:07.4. Following Worthen among the Pioneers, placing 43
rd was
Leza Cassidy, with a 6k time of 22:14.9.
Setting a personal record in a 6k was
Alyssa Escay, who's new record is 22:41.4.
Stanislaus State was the team champion of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country West Regional. Alaska's Naomi Bailey was the top individual finisher on Saturday in the women's 6k with a time of 20:53.1.
Without being a top three finishing team, and the amount of individuals qualifying outside of the top three teams, it's most likely that no runners from Cal State East Bay would be selected to the field in the NCAA Division II Championships. Thus in all probability, the 2022 season has concluded for the Pioneers.
