HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team swept Cal State San Marcos, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-18) on Saturday in a CCAA match at Pioneer Gymnasium. By winning the match, the Pioneers also swept the season series against the Cougars.
The opening set had the Cougars ahead early, but not long thereafter, Cal State East Bay regained control and took the set with back-to-back kills from
Lexi Pagani to win 25-19. She had five of the Pioneers' 16 kills in set one.
Despite falling behind early, CSUSM came back to close the deficit to a point. However, the Pioneers never trailed in the set, and closed it out with a kill from
Mia Jordan to win 25-21, taking a 2-0 lead.
Alexandria Gloria had four kills in the second set.
Set three went in favor of the Pioneers, as a five point run allowed for distancing in points at 20-13, and Cal State East Bay eventually took set three at 25-18 to complete a 3-0 sweep.
- With a team-high 11 kills for the Pioneers was Pagani.
- Karis Carter had five total blocks and had a .778 attack percentage with no errors.
- With 20 assists each were Megan Crecelius and Peyton Griffin.
- Kara Green had a team-high 17 digs.
- As a team, the Pioneers had 45 kills in total, which was the most all season for matches played to three sets.
