SAN FRANCISCO – On Friday, the Cal State East Bay women's cross country team placed second among 11 teams in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park. Three runner from the Pioneers finished in the top-10, including
Chase Worthen,
Claire Fisher and
Leza Cassidy.
Here are some of the notable highlights from the 6k run for Cal State East Bay.
- Worthen finished second overall and was the top Division II runner in the 6k with a time of 21 minutes, 35.4 seconds.
- Right behind Worthen with a third place finish was Fisher, who completed the 6k in 21:39.0.
- Cassidy placed 10th overall, with a time of 22:05.8.
- Achieving a personal best time of 23:45.5 in the 6k was Veronica Valenton.
- Ashley Trout also reached a personal best 6k time finishing in 26:16.4.
"Today's races were great steps forward for both teams," stated CSUEB assistant coach
Jordan Rodriguez.
Concordia Irvine was the team champion of the meet while Kira Gupta-Baltazar from University of San Francisco placed first with a time of 21:31.7.
The Pioneers run one more regular season meet in 2022 – the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals which takes place on Saturday, October 22 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington.
