HAYWARD, Calif. – After dropping Thursday's four set loss in CCAA action, the Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team bounced back in dominating fashion with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-12) victory on Saturday over Chico State.
After the Wildcats led 4-3 early in set one, the Pioneers pulled of the next six points, two of which were from aces served by
Lexi Pagani, and did not look back. Cal State East Bay cruised to a 25-12 set one win. Set point was won by CSUEB on a kill from
Alexandria Gloria.
Chico State had an early 11-6 lead in the second set, and eventually led 15-14. However, Cal State East Bay took the next five points and 11 of the next 13 for a 25-17 set two win. Once again, Gloria had a kill to win set point.
Set three was much controlled by the Pioneers. Ahead 13-9, an 11-1 run brought the score to match point. Although the Wildcats took the next two points to prolong the match,
Mia Jordan had a kill on the next point, and closed out the set, 25-12 to complete a 3-0 sweep.
- Kara Green had eight kills with no errors, and finished with a .421 attack percentage.
- Green and Taylor Miche had seven digs each on Saturday.
- Pagani finished the match with four service aces.
- Jordan had nine attempts attacking, with no errors and six kills for a .667 attack percentage.
- As a team, the Pioneers had a .333 attack percentage.
- Defensively, Karis Carter had four total blocks.
