LOS ANGELES – The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team dropped a CCAA road match on Friday evening against No. 23 Cal State LA, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 28-26). For the eighth time during the 2022 season,
Kara Green achieved a double-double by having 11 kills and 11 digs.
Cal State East Bay reached a 10-8 lead in set one after a kill from
Alexandria Gloria, but the Golden Eagles scored six of the next seven points, and did not look back. CSULA won the opening set, 25-19.
With Cal State LA taking the first six points of set two, the Pioneers were unable to entirely erase the deficit, and trailed for the rest of the second set. Although CSUEB kept the set close later in it, a kill from Iane Henke sealed set two for the Golden Eagles, who went up 2-0 in sets by winning the second, 25-20.
Set three was the most competitive, with extra points needed to decide a winner. The Pioneers took a late lead in the set, reaching set point ahead 24-23 after an ace from
Alyssa Zaragoza, and set point again ahead 25-24 after a kill from Green. However, the Golden Eagles finished with a 28-26 set win to complete a 3-0 sweep on Friday.

The final road match of the 2022 season for the Pioneers takes place at 5 p.m. on Saturday with a CCAA matchup in The Torodome at Cal State Dominguez Hills. On September 15, Cal State East Bay swept the Toros, 3-0 in Hayward.
