CARSON, Calif. – With a short turnaround following a three set loss, the Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team bounced back on Saturday with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17) victory in CCAA action against Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome.
The opening set was closely contested, up to a 22-22 score. However, the Toros took the next three points, and won the opening set, 25-22.
Set two was much controlled by the Pioneers. Although CSUDH kept it reasonable close, the Pioneers took the final three points, with the last two coming from kills by
Lexi Pagani. Cal State East Bay evened the match at 1-1 by winning set two, 25-17.
Although CSUDH led 19-15 late in the third set, the Pioneers scored eight of the next nine points for a 23-20 lead and eventually pulled away for a 25-23 win after another set was closed out by a kill from Pagani.
The Toros took the first two points of set four, but Cal State East Bay went on a 10-1 run and didn't look back. While CSUDH cut the deficit to three points as late as 19-16, Cal State East Bay won six of the next seven points, as the match was won on a kill from
Alexandria Gloria. The Pioneers won the set, 25-17 and took the match, 3-1 in sets.
- Pagani had an outstanding offensive night, as she led the Pioneers in kills with 16 and had no attack errors for a .485 attack percentage.
- Pagani also had three aces.
- Mia Jordan had a career-high seven total blocks.
- Defensively, four Pioneers reached double-figures in digs, including Taylor Miche with 18, Megan Crecelius and Kara Green with 13 each and Ali Santoyo with 10.
- The Pioneers have reached 18 wins in a season for the first time since 2017.

Two matches remain in the regular season for the Pioneers, both of which are home contests. The first of the two takes place next Thursday, November 3 against Sonoma State. Opening serve from Pioneer Gymnasium is set for 5 p.m. On September 10, Cal State East Bay defeated the Seawolves, 3-1 in Rohnert Park.
If the Pioneers win one of the two regular season matches remaining, they would clinch a spot in the 2022 CCAA Tournament.
