CSUEB (8-3-3, 5-1-2 CCAA) is currently tied for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with SF State (7-6-2, 5-1-2) and just one point behind first-place Sonoma State (11-3, 6-2).

The Pioneers are unbeaten in seven of their last eight contests, and are coming off home a home victory last week over Cal State San Bernardino and a tie against Cal State San Marcos.

Freshman Jenna Villanueva recorded her second goal of the season in the first minute of the win over San Bernardino, scoring off an assist from senior Riley Spitzer. It was the four assist of the season for Spitzer, who is tied with Villanueva for the team lead.

Junior goalkeeper Jordan Smith tallied five saves in the win, and followed it up with four saves in the tie against San Marcos, including a key stop on a penalty kick in the 12th minute of the first half. Smith ranks second in the conference this season in goals against average (.541) and second in shutouts per game (.571).

Senior forward Tami Kwong is tied for the conference lead with five goals this season, and is along atop the CCAA with five game-winning goals.
