HAYWARD, Calif. — August 19th, 2026 — Cal State East Bay Director of Athletics Allison Kern has announced the appointment of Jessica Clinton as the new head coach of the Pioneers women's soccer program.
Clinton becomes the sixth head coach in program history and brings a wealth of collegiate coaching experience, player development expertise, and a proven record of building competitive programs to the position.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to lead the Cal State East Bay women's soccer program," said Clinton. "This is a special place with tremendous potential, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue building a program that our student-athletes, alumni and entire Pioneer community can be proud of."
Clinton joined Cal State East Bay in 2023 and has been an integral part of the Pioneers' women's soccer program. She brings more than two decades of coaching and playing experience at the collegiate, professional and youth levels.
Before joining the Pioneers, Clinton served as the head coach at Fordham University from 2014-21, where she guided the Rams through a highly competitive Atlantic 10 Conference. She previously served as associate head coach at Boston University and held coaching positions at St. John's University and within the club soccer community.
Clinton was also selected as the first head coach of Oakland Soul SC, helping establish the club's women's program in the Bay Area.
"Jessica's experience, leadership and commitment to student-athlete development make her an outstanding fit for Cal State East Bay," said Allison Kern. "She understands what it takes to build a strong culture and develop championship-caliber student-athletes. We are excited to have her lead our women's soccer program."
A standout goalkeeper at Boston University, Clinton remains one of the program's all-time leaders in saves. She earned America East Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2003 and was a two-time All-Conference First Team selection.
Clinton holds a U.S. Soccer A License, along with USSF B and C Licenses as well as a US Soccer Talent Scout License and United Soccer Coaches National and Advanced National Diplomas. She earned her bachelor's degree in hospitality administration from Boston University in 2004.
"I believe deeply in the potential of this program," Clinton said. "Our focus will be on developing our student-athletes as players, teammates and leaders while creating a culture built on accountability, connection and a commitment to excellence. I can't wait to get started."
Clinton will lead the Pioneers into the 2026 season as the program looks to build on its championship foundation and compete for championships in the CCAA.
