Angie Ronquillo Named CCAA Track & Field All-Star

5/13/2020 10:48:00 AM

HAYWARD, Calif. — Cal State East Bay junior Angie Ronquillo was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Track & Field All-Star Team, the conference announced on May 12.

A 2019 cross country All-American, Ronquillo recorded a first-place finish in the 1500 in her only action of the 2020 track and field season. The Bakersfield native posted a time of 4-minutes, 43.70-seconds at Stanislaus State's Kim Duyst Invitational on March 7.

Last season, Ronquillo placed second in the 1500 at the 2019 CCAA Track and Field Championships, becoming one of the first three women in school history to reach the podium in a running event at the CCAA Championships.

Ronquillo is also the women's cross country school record holder for a 6K, with a time of 20:53.9.

A total of 32 student-athletes from throughout the conference mirrors the championship roster size for CCAA track & field, and is not bound by specific events.

All 13 programs were guaranteed one representative to showcase talent across the league. Standout performers were submitted for consideration by the league's women's track & field sports information contacts.

The All-Stars are selected based solely on performances and marks achieved during the shortened spring season, therefore some big names in the sport are absent based on the limited number of competition dates. Each individual picked has a worthy standard set during the 2020 outdoor season to earn their All-Star selection.
