TURLOCK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay track and field teams got their first real tests of the season on Saturday, competing at the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Stanislaus State.
The Pioneer women finished seventh overall with 24 total points, while the men placed 11th with 23 points.
Sophomore
Bryan Llopis placed first overall among collegiate runners in the 1500 meter, finishing with a new personal-record time of 4-minutes, 2.90-seconds. Freshman
Maximiliano Chavez was third (4:05.12) among collegiate runners after crossing the finish line in 4:05.12), while sophomore
Xavier Smith was fourth (4:05.47) and senior
Esteban Leon was ninth (4:07.83).
On the women's side, junior
Angie Ronquillo finished first overall in the 1500 out of 67 competitors with a time of 4:43.70, while junior
Claire Fisher was fourth (4:46.53), senior
Andrea Romero was fifth (4:47.43) and sophomore
Amanda Navarro played seventh (4:48.64). In addition, freshman
Alyssa Gallegos finished fourth in the 5K behind a time of 19:37.90.
The Pioneers resume action next Saturday, March 14, when they compete at the Oxy Spring Break Invite in Los Angeles.
