KINGSVILLE, Texas
-- Cal State East Bay junior Brittney Duquette closed out a historic season by finishing in 15th place Friday in the 800 meter race at 2019 NCAA Division II Championships.

The Claremont native was seeded 20th heading into the event, but turned in an impressive performance as the field battled sweltering temperatures at Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M Kingsville. Duquette turned in a time of 2:15.54 to take sixth in her heat. In the overall standings, she moved up past five runners ranked ahead of her heading into the meet.

Duquette, who was runner-up in the 800 meters at CCAA Championships, made history just by representing the Pioneers in Texas. She's the first CSUEB female to compete at Division II National Championships since 2014, and she's the first Pioneer of the CCAA era to qualify for the NCAA meet in a track event. Duquette's personal best time of 2:10.91 in the event ranks No. 5 in program history.
