SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- In the final tournament of the 2018-19 regular season, the Cal State East Bay women's golf team took fifth place out of 15 schools at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational.Â
The Pioneers turned in a team score of 318 (+30) in Tuesday's second round to finish the 36-hole event at 624 (+48). They bested a number of solid West Region squads, including conference rival Chico State.
The course at Santa Rosa Golf & Country club was playing tough on Tuesday, and scores were high across the board compared to Monday's round. But CSUEB nonetheless had some strong individual performances.
Drishti Karumbaya made the All-Tournament Team after tying for fifth place with a 36-hole total of 151 (+7). She carded a 77 in the final round, which was the lowest on the team.
Carolin Chang notched a 79 in round two to pick up her second top-10 finish of the season. The senior finished the week tied for seventh at 153 (+9).Â
Hafsa Khan,
Vivian Yen, and
Lulu Huang all closed out the tournament with identical scores of 81. Huang posted an overall total of 157 as an individual, her best 36-hole of the season.
