HAYWARD, Calif. -- With just a few weeks remaining before the conference championship meet, the Cal State East Bay men's and women's track and field teams will host the sixth annual East Bay Invitational this weekend at Chabot College. 

For many of the Pioneer runners, this will be the final competitive tune-up before they head south to La Jolla for the 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships. In the meantime, the squad will run this weekend on a track with which it is very familiar, having already competed twice at Chabot this Spring. 

The field at this year's East Bay Invitational will feature local junior colleges, running clubs, and four-year schools from Divisions I, II, and III. It also includes a representatives from conference rivals San Francisco State, Sonoma State, and Cal State Monterey Bay.

Friday's schedule starts with the hammer and javelin events in the afternoon, and concludes with the men's and women's 10,000 meters at 6 p.m. The majority of the events will take place Saturday, starting with the 5,000 meter races at 8:30 a.m., and finishing with the 4x400 relays at 2 p.m.
