ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team turned in a solid performance in wet conditions this week to finish in fifth place out of 19 teams at their home tournament, the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.
CSUEB shot 310 (+22) in the second round, matching its first round score exactly, to finish the 36-hole event at 620 (+44). Cal State San Marcos captured the team title at 22 over par, three strokes better than runner-up Academy of Art.
Carolin Chang turned in the low round for the Pioneers on Tuesday at Corica Park South Course, braving light steady rain to shoot 74 (+2). She finished the week with a share of 15th place in the overall field of over 100 golfers. Freshman
Drishti Karumbaya fired her second straight 77 (+5) in round two and finish one stroke behind Chang overall.
Below are CSUEB's final scores. Next week the team travels south to play in Cal State San Marcos's tournament Mar. 11-12 in Vista, Calif.
