POMONA, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay baseball team opened their four game series against Cal Poly Pomona with a 6-11 loss at Scolinos Field on Friday afternoon, March 29.

With the loss the Pioneers move to 9-17 on the season with a 6-14 showing in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.

The Broncos jumped out to an early six run lead after the first two innings of play at their home field. The Pioneers would cut into the deficit and trail by only two runs at the start of the seventh inning of play.

Senior infielder
Adam Hollar (Livermore, Calif.) provided a productive performance for the Pioneers as he went 4-for-5 from the plate for the ball game. Hollar notched hits in the second, fourth, sixth and ninth innings as his hits in the fourth and ninth inning accumulated to runs for CSUEB. Junior
Ryan McSwain (Redwood City, Calif.) also recorded two RBIs on a single to left field in the sixth inning as McSwain compiled two hits for the afternoon.

Cal Poly Pomona would rattle off four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 11-5 advantage. Cal State East Bay would churn out one final run in the final inning of action as they final score stood a 11-6.

Senior
Steve Robinson (Yuba City, Calif.) finished the ball game with two hits and a run scored in the sixth inning. Senior catcher
Matt Cantelme (Fair Oaks, Calif.) scored two runs and drew a walk for East Bay.

Both
Dakota Conners (Manteca, Calif.) and
Jacob Eder drew two walks in the contest. Conners added a hits, scored a run and added a RBI while Eder scored a run and recorded a hit.
Joey Dice (Reno, Nev.) knocked a RBI single through left side in the sixth innings and
Robert Lujan scored a run.

Ransome Alexander (L, 1-3) (Fullerton, Calif.) got the start on the mound for the Pioneers and allowed two earned runs through nearly two innings of action.
TJ Myers was next to get the ball and tossed just over two innings compiling a strikeout and allowing only on earned run.
Kyle Basch (San Carlos, Calif.) gave up just a hit and walked a batter in two innings of work on the mound.
Ethan Brodsky (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished the game for the Pioneers and notched one strikeout.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back against the Broncos with a Saturday, March 30 doubleheader a Scolinos Field with first pitch scheduled for noon.
